What to know about Finike

Finike is a district where tourism stayed modest and daily life still runs on farming. Its oranges are known nationwide, and the groves along the coast come into harvest in winter.

The marina is one of the Mediterranean's wintering points for cruising yachts and gives the town centre its energy. The shore has a long pebble beach, far quieter than in neighbouring districts.

Its most striking ancient site is Arykanda, built in terraces up a mountainside. With a theatre and baths looking down the valley, its setting has earned it comparisons to Delphi.

When to go

The sea is warm from June to October. Spring and autumn suit Arykanda and Limyra. Orange harvest runs December to February, when the town market is at its busiest.

Getting there

Antalya Airport (AYT) is 120 km east, about 2 hours by road. Kumluca is 25 km away and Demre 25 km. The district sits on the coastal highway, so buses are frequent.

What to see in Finike

  • Arykanda

A city terraced up a mountainside, with theatre, baths and stadium overlooking the valley. Thirty-five kilometres out; allow 1.5 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How do you reach Arykanda?+

Thirty-five kilometres inland towards Elmalı on a paved mountain road. Public transport is limited, so a car or tour is advised; the site itself is steep, so wear proper shoes.

What is the beach like?+

Long and pebbled, and rarely crowded. Cafés and restaurants cluster around the marina; sunbed service is seasonal.
