What to know about Korkuteli

Korkuteli sits outside the coastal tourism belt but makes an easy escape from the heat for visitors to Antalya. At over 1,000 metres, its nights stay cool even in July and August.

The economy runs on apples, cherries and grain. The town itself is a plain Anatolian settlement; the value for visitors lies in the surrounding highlands and the roads leading to Termessos and on to the lakes around Isparta.

The ancient site of Isinda and the northern approach to Termessos lie close to its boundary, while the Bozova and Söğüt highlands are popular for picnics and camping in summer.

When to go

May to October is the window, and midsummer is ideal for escaping the coast. Snow falls in winter and the highlands become hard to reach. Apple harvest is in September and October.

Getting there

Fifty-five kilometres from central Antalya, about an hour by car; the airport is 70 km away. The district lies on the highway towards Isparta, with regular buses through the day.

What to see in Korkuteli

  • Söğüt and Bozova highlands

Plateau meadows among cedar and black pine. Daytime highs of 25-28°C in July and August; a local favourite for camping and picnics.

  • Apple orchards

The economic backbone of the district. Harvest runs September-October, when roadside stalls sell straight from the grower.

  • Gateway to the lake country

The road from Antalya to Isparta and Burdur runs through here, and most tours to Lake Salda and Eğirdir use this route.

Frequently asked questions

Is Korkuteli really cooler in summer?+

Yes. At over 1,000 metres, daytime temperatures run 8-10°C below the coast, and evenings can call for a light layer.

Can it be done as a day trip from Antalya?+

Easily — an hour by car, and the highlands plus the orchards make a half-day outing. Lake country tours usually pass through as well.
