Browse all toursWhat to know about Gazipaşa
Gazipaşa is the quietest stretch of the eastern Antalya coast. The Taurus mountains come close to the water here, so the coastal strip is narrow — which means small coves and farmland instead of long hotel rows.
The local economy runs largely on bananas and greenhouse farming, and the greenhouses along the shore are the district's visual signature. Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) opened to scheduled flights after 2010, and a large share of visitors to the Alanya region now land here.
The main sights are the ruins of Selinus — traditionally the place where the emperor Trajan died — and Koru Beach near the centre. Kahyalar and Delik Deniz are shaded, cool picnic spots favoured by locals.
When to go
The sea is warm from May to November. The district never gets as busy as Alanya, so July and August are perfectly manageable. Banana harvest runs through autumn and winter, when the Sunday market is at its liveliest.
Getting there
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) is 5 km from the town centre. Alanya is 40 km away, a 40-50 minute transfer; Antalya Airport is 180 km and about 3 hours. Regular buses run along the coast road between Alanya and Gazipaşa.
What to see in Gazipaşa
Ancient Selinus
A hilltop above the sea with a fortress, baths and a monumental tomb. The Roman emperor Trajan is held to have died here in AD 117; entry is free and the site is usually empty.
Koru Beach
Three kilometres from the centre, wide and coarse-sanded, with local restaurants along it and few crowds. Waves run slightly higher than on the Alanya shore.
Delik Deniz
A cool, shaded cove among the rocks, visited more for the view and a picnic than for swimming. The access road is narrow, so drive carefully.
