What to expect on this Alanya city tour
This 3-hour Alanya city tour offers an introduction to the main landmarks of the coastal town. You start your journey with a convenient pickup from your hotel. The tour includes guiding services in English, German, Russian, or Turkish, as well as insurance.
During the trip, you will stop at the famous Alanya Terrace. This viewpoint sits next to the "I LOVE ALANYA" sign on the hill, where you can take photos of the entire town spread out below you.
Discovering Damlatas Cave and Cleopatra Beach
The first major stop is Damlatas Cave, which workers discovered by accident in 1948 during harbor construction. The name means "Cave of Dripping Stones" because of the stalactites and stalagmites that have been forming here for over 15,000 years. People believe the air inside this cave benefits those with asthma. Please note that the cave entry fee of 3 EUR is not included in the tour price.
Right next to the cave lies Cleopatra Beach. This sandy beach gets its name from the Egyptian queen. According to local legend, Roman commander Marcus Antonius gifted this beach to Cleopatra, and they both swam in these waters.
Riding the cable car to Alanya Castle
You will ride the cable car up to Alanya Castle, which sits on a hill 250 meters above the sea. The cable car ticket costs 8 EUR and is paid separately. The Seljuks constructed this fortress in the 13th century. From this vantage point, you can watch the sunset over the sea and look out over the entire city of Alanya.
When you arrive at the castle, your guide will give you a short introduction about the historic mosque on the site and the background of the fortress. There is no full guided tour inside the castle itself. Instead, you have free time to walk around and explore the historic details at your own pace.
